Uniform Regulations
Here you will find information regarding uniform wear, what is allowed and any other regulations or concerns you may have.
General Uniform Regulations:
- You must keep the uniform in a clear, neat, pressed and presentable condition. The shirt must not show an excessive amount of wrinkles and it should be pressed before each wear. No stains or damage should be visible.
- Flight caps must be worn at all times outdoors unless you are indoors are you then allowed to take off your flight cap.
- Hands must remain out of pockets.
- Wind breakers must be zipped all the way or half way. Service coats must be buttoned all the way. Blues must be buttoned all the way unless the cadet has no neck tab/tie then the top button may be unbuttoned.
- Pockets must not be bulky or have items sticking out of them.
- Shoes should be shinned as well as the heels and edges of the soles. Gutters must also be clean.
- All uniform accessories such as belt buckles, ribbons, name tags, and others must be kept in a clean and presentable condition. See your Logistics Officer if the uniform or accessory needs replacement.
- The uniform must fit properly and not be saggy. If uniform doesn't fit properly, speak to your Logistics Officer to get a size that does not sag and fits.
- If you have more than one cord, only one cord is permitted to be worn on the left shoulder.
- Cadets must have an appropriate haircut/hair, fingernail (can only be natural color and french tip), and face (men must have a clean shave, females having an appropriate amount of makeup).
- Uniforms must be worn the entire day on assigned days. If a cadet requires to change out of uniform, they must have approval of their ASI(s) to change but must change back into uniform again when class is dismissed.
Both of the following uniform regulations share the following:
The uniform must be in a presentable display, such as being neat, in good condition and either zipped/button (depending on the uniform being worn). Wearing flight caps at adequate times is also something that both uniform regulations share, as well as being in a presentable condition.
- While wearing the uniform, you may wear a wristwatch and rings but no more than three rings are permitted at a time. A bracelet is permitted if it is neat and conservative and no more than one-half inch in width, though colored or bracelets that support a cause are not permitted. Necklaces are allowed as long as they're not visible.
- Eyeglasses or sunglasses must not have any ornaments on the frames or lenses during uniform wear. Eyeglasses that have been authorized and are proper to wear such as being clear, slightly tainted or special lenses fit to fit the cadet may be worn in uniform indoors or in military formation. Sunglasses and eyeglasses that are darkly tinted, or mirrored lenses are prohibited. Sunglasses may not be worn in military formation. Eyeglasses or sunglasses are not allowed to be worn around the neck while in formation.
- Tattoos or brands are not allowed if you are in or out of uniform, tattoos or brands anywhere on the body are not allowed if they are obscene or if they advocate sexual, racial, ethnic, or religious discrimination. If you do bare a tattoo or brand, talk to your instructors for questions or concerns.
- Cadets in uniform may not display or attach objects, jewelry or any type of ornament on or through their ears, nose, lip, tongue or body part exposed from the uniform. However, female cadets are allowed to conserve uniform approved earrings, pierce or clip style in uniform if they have been approved.
Male Uniform Regulations:
Hair Standards:

Hair will be a tapered cut, not touching the ears, not touching the collar and not be over approximately 1 inch in length on top. The face will be clean-shaven, except for permitted mustaches. Sideburns will not extend below the center of the ear canal. Males are not authorized to wear braids, cornrows, or dreadlocks (unkempt, twisted, matted, individual parts of hair) while in uniform. Excessive amounts of hair products (creams, oils, sprays, etc) are not allowed. Dyed hair will not permitted as it will be required to have only a natural looking look.

Jewelry:
|
Only one bracelet/ wristwatch may be worn and it must not be wider than 1⁄2 inch or detract from the military image. Earrings may not be worn while in uniform.

Flight Cap:
|
The flight cap is to be slightly to the right it should be vertically creased (cap) and at the center of the forehead in the straight line aligned to the nose. Caps should be worn 1 to 1 1/2 inches above eyebrows (about width of two fingers). Hair may not be sticking out from under the front (forehead) of the flight cap, the crown (back) should be straight and not crushed. Cadets should write their names on the tags (inside the cap) to keep track of them and should be worn outside at all times, unless heading indoors.

Light Blue (Short Sleeve) Shirt:
|
This short must always be tucked into the slacks when worn. Sleeves must barely touch/come within an inch of the forearm when bent at a right angle. The top button of the collar is to buttoned (or unbuttoned unless there's no tie being worn). A white V neck shirt/ approved undershirt will be worn under the shirt. It must be in a clean and presentable condition with a crease on each sleeve.

Ranks, Insignia, Etc:

They should be shinned and taken with care to be in a presentable condition. Belts are to be worn on the slacks, through all the loops. The silver tip of the belt must face the cadet's LEFT. Cut off any excess fabric showing.

Ribbons:
|
Ribbons must be worn in the proper order, the lowest ribbon must be worn on the lower left position and the highest ribbon will be to the top right of the wear's perspective. If a ribbon is awarded more than once, an oak leaf cluster will replace it to signify each additional award. Oak leaf clusters will be placed on the center of the ribbon with the leaf pointing to the top right corner. If a cadet earns a sister service ribbon(s), the ribbon will be worn in the order of that branch's order.

Service Dress Uniform:

The uniform consists of a dark blue service coat, trousers, light blue shirt, black uniform shoes and tie. The length of the sleeves on the coat should be 1/4 of an inch from the thumb and hang naturally at the hands (slightly cupped). The service coat must never be unbuttoned but it may be removed inside a classroom as long as it's hung over the back of a chair.

Female Uniform Regulations:
Hair Standards:
|
Hairstyles are to be a natural color and not to interfere with proper wearing of the military headgear. Hair should not fall over the eyebrows or extend below the bottom edge of the collar (unless if hair is short enough to not pass the bottom of the shirt collar then it may be worn down or in a ponytail in a modest way. It must be pulled back into a bun on the back lower part of the head while in uniform if it is not at approved to be otherwise. There must not be an excessive amount of grooming aids such as bobby pins, hair ties, etc. These items must be the same color as your hair as well as being modest in size without being excessive.

Jewelry:

Only one bracelet and one wristwatch may be worn and it must not be wider than 1⁄2 inch or detract from the military image. They must be simple, not showing any support or images that detract from the military. Earrings are allow but they must be small and plain (gold, silver, pearl or diamond) as well as simple. Only one earring may be worn in each ear and it must be on the earlobe and not extend past the bottom of the earlobe. Necklaces are allowed during uniform as long as they are not in sight.

Flight Cap:
|
Flight caps should be worn slightly to the right with the vertical crease of the cap at the center of the forehead in a straight line that aligns to the nose. It should be 1 to 1 1/2 inches above the eyebrows (width 2 fingers). Hair may be visible under the front of flight cap but it cannot touch the eyebrows. Cadets should write their names in the tag inside in order to keep track of them. Flight caps should be worn outside at all times unless heading indoors.

Light Blue (Short-Sleeve) Shirt:
|
The blouse must be tucked into the slacks when worn. A white v-necked shirt will be required to be worn underneath the blouse. This blouse must be clean and in a presentable condition with a crease on each sleeve only. It may be worn either open or buttoned but if collar is buttoned, a neck tab must be worn. In opposite, the collar must be worn open if the cadet does not have a neck tab. The neck tab must be hidden under the collar of the blouse and align to the gig line.

Ranks, Insignias, Etc:
|
All badges and insignias should be shinned and be in good condition. Belts are to be worn on the slacks and skirts (unless they do not have belt loops). Adjust the belt so that the silver tip shows onto just past the buckle with no blue fabric showing (cut off excess fabric from the belt). The silver tip must always face the cadet's RIGHT for female.

Ribbons:

Ribbons should be worn in the proper ribbon, the lowest ribbon being worn on the lower left position of the rack (if cadet has several ribbons) and the highest ribbon on top right of the uniform, at the wear's perspective. If the cadet has received the same ribbon more than once, an oak leaf cluster will replace it. The oak leaf clusters will be placed in the center of the ribbon with the leaf pointing to top right corner. If a cadet earns a sister service ribbon, the ribbon will be worn in order of the branch's cadet ribbon.

Service Dress Uniform:
|
The coat's length is proportional to the cadet's height, the sleeve length lining to the heel of the thumb when arms are in the position of attention. Coats may be removed in class and hung on the back of a chair but it may not be worn unbuttoned as it is either off or buttoned all the way. Ribbons, badges, insignias, ribbons and medals may be transferred and worn on the service coat.

Socks:
|
Socks must be solid black and knee high. If wearing a skirt, females may wear hose with shoes or pumps; with a skirt, socks must not extend past the ankle.

Nails:
|
Nails must be a simple design and must not exceed ¼ inch. French tips and natural color nails are allowed, all other colors and designs are not allowed.
